General Practitioner

POSITION TITLE:     General Practitioner 

FLSA STATUS:         Exempt- Commission 

SUPERVISOR:         Chief Executive Officer            

OBJECTIVE:  The Dentist is responsible for maintaining the health structures of the mouth, such as teeth, gums         and the jaw of patients. They address patient’s specific needs as well as perform procedures that address all levels of
oral hygiene. Dentist is also responsible for supervising the work of the dental assistants and hygienists.

RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following): 
•    Examines patients’ teeth and mouth.
•    Analyzes x-rays and evaluates dental needs.
•    Plans treatment and health promotion programs.
•    Administers anesthetics to patients.
•    Treats teeth and tissue problems. 
•    Performs surgery on gums or on supporting bones.
•    Performs cosmetic and restorative procedures on teeth.
•    Provides instruction on dental care.
•    Writes prescriptions for patients.
•    Keeps records of the work done on patients.
•    Other duties deemed necessary by supervisor. 

QUALIFICATION 
Knowledge of:
•    Federal and State regulation and guidelines.
•    All dental equipment including but not limited x-ray machines, drills, mouth mirrors, probes, forceps, brushes, and scalpels. 
•    General Dentistry. 

Skills:
•    Effective communication skills both orally and written. 
•    Ability to read an X-ray. 
•    Ability to work harmoniously with other professionals and administrative staff.


Requirements:
•    Graduation from an Accredited Dental School.
•    CPR Certification.
•    Maintain a valid and current DEA registration 
•    1 or more years of experience in dental field. 
•    Valid Dental License.
