Hygenist
POSITION TITLE: Registered Dental Hygienist
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt-Hourly
SUPERVISOR: Office Manager and Hygiene Manager
OBJECTIVE: Responsible for the direct provision of oral hygiene and appropriate preventive services to dental patients.
The Registered Dental Hygienist will also be responsible for providing appropriate oral health information to individuals,
as well as groups.
RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following):
• Provides clinical oral hygiene services in accordance with treatment plans prescribed by the Dentist. This includes prophylaxis, periodontal scaling, root planning debridement, application of fluoride treatments, and application of protective sealants in compliance with applicable state law and the Company’s protocols.
• Assist in the oral health management of all patients.
• Evaluate overall oral health including examination of oral cavity for signs of periodontal disease or possible cancer.
• Obtain baseline oral hygiene assessment data based upon accepted principles of oral hygiene and periodontal care.
• Record patient to hygienist transactions as they occur in the patients dental record so that the record is accurate and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient, and the care/treatment provided.
• Clean calcareous deposits, accretions and stains from teeth and beneath margins of the gum.
• Attain the established safety and health protocols including daily, weekly, and monthly to maintain a clean operatory, as well as tools.
• Other duties deemed necessary by supervisor.
QUALIFICATION
Knowledge of:
• Federal, State, and institutional regulations and guidelines for the provision of dental outpatient services.
• Patient screening, charting, and medical history procedures and documentation.
• Knowledge and understanding of dental surgery and associated procedures, terminology, and techniques.
Skills:
• Effective communication skills both oral and written.
• Ability to gain professional relationships with Dentist.
• Computer skills.
Requirements:
• Licensure from the state from where he/she will be practicing.
• Graduation for an accredited dental hygiene program.
• CPR Certification.
• Experience preferred, but not required.
